The tiny, once nearly abandoned resort town of Bombay Beach along the shores of the Salton Sea in Southern California, is a renegade celebration of art, music, and philosophy that takes place on the literal edge of western civilization. Every other spring, the Bombay Beach Biennale transforms abandoned housing, vacant lots, and decaying shoreline into a unique canvas for creative expression and critical thought. Artists, philosophers, creators and interdisciplinary makers from across the globe flock to the strange place that is Bombay Beach, California to donate their time and talents to the volunteer-led happening.
